Hello!
Bing bang boom, it’s bonfire night and I’m about to head out with some pals to watch the local fireworks, thank you very much!
Buy the print newspaper here now! Only available to pre-order for a few more days! (To clarify - this is not your last chance to buy it ever, BUT I cannot express to you how helpful it is to pre-order!!)
Right, some other news. At the end of the month, it will be LMAOnaise’s fourth birthday!! Woo and also vom, where did the time go? I thought it about time to add something new to the newsletter, so we’re bringing in a MEET THE COMEDIAN feature, where we will get to know someone LMAOnaise loves, every Friday. That’s right, even more LMAOnaise.
If you think that might be too many emails, don’t fret: this second weekly email is going to be a premium subscription perk, so only those on the paid tiers will get it. However, the first few interviews will be free for all subscribers to read, just to wet your whistle… Maybe you’ll decide to stay!
If you’re a comedian and want to know more about this new feature, please email!
Now, on with the show!
Comedy shows to see!
Piotr Sikora: Strange Thing
Nov 9th, 9pm
Pen Theatre, London. Tickets here
A new show from another fantastic Fringe discovery. Piotr Sikora, whose surprisingly sweet clown show looked at the cycles of toxic masculinity, is working on a new thing. Strange Thing promises to be what it says on the tin, as he tries to squeeze four hours of Stranger Things into an hour. This is the only time you’ll find me interested in Stranger Things.
The Miss Ellaneous Regret Gala
Nov 16th, 10:30pm
The Yard Theatre, Hackney Wick. Tickets here
Cabaret is back. It is with great Regret that Miss Ellaneous returns to the Yard Theatre for their latest gala. Held at the Regret-ropolitan Museum of blah-blah-blArt, the theme is Dress to Distress. Frankie Thompson and Charlie Wood’s host this cabaret night of peculiarities, with guests including Mx Fortune, Daddy Maki, Dr Phoebe Patey-Ferguson and The Doll. Prepare for drag, music and much more.
Straight Twink and Freak Gay 2
Nov 12th, 7:30pm
London Hospital Tavern. Tickets here
A controversial night of comedy from Jack Shep and Daniel McKeon: a straight man and a gay man, side by side? Who’d have thunk? Half an hour from both, each working on new shows. Both are very funny boys, and – a peek behind the curtain – both are in the upcoming newspaper!
Metroland Live: The Box
Nov 9th, 7pm
Wasters Arts Bar, Wallsend. Tickets here
Metroland are one of my favourite new discoveries from this year’s Fringe. Five Geordie guys doing sketches and having a great time. Some of them are snappy, quick laughs, some of them are surreal and dramatic, some are custard pies, but whatever it is it’s a breath of fresh air, and such a joy to see how much they love what they’re doing. I’m dying for another opportunity to see them. Might have to take a trip to Newcastle… P.S. Don’t ask about the box.
Kemah Bob: Miss Fortunate
Nov 6-9th, 8:45pm
Soho Theatre. Tickets here
Having waited for Kemah Bob’s debut show for like my whole life, I was delighted to find out it was nothing like I expected. Miss Fortunate is a winning combo of a skillful raconteur with a genuinely exciting story to tell, and it’s full of surprises too – not going to spoil anything though, because the thrill is in the build-up… Read my full review of the show here!
Lil Wenker: Bangtail
Nov 7-9th, 10:30pm
Soho Theatre. Tickets here
If you like Spaghetti Westerns, moo-ing or an outlaw with a heart of gold, Bangtail is your guy. He’s the baddest cowboy in Texas, can dodge bullets and scale a mountain in a heartbeat, and is also maybe a little bit on the edge of a mid-life crisis… It’s a sweet and extremely silly show, interactive in the best way so make sure you’ve got your foley artist hat on.
